I would love to hear about traditional birth practices and ceremonies in the region

That's a great idea Karen! When I was postpardum a lot of Thais told me about some postpardum traditions. How the new mom and babe stay inside for a month and they shave the babies hair at the end of the month. How they keep a fire going inside the house as the heat is supposed to dry and shrink the womb after giving birth. How the postpardum mother has a strict diet of what she can and can not eat. I would love to hear more about that as well, where the tradition came from, etc.
Even at the international hospital where I gave birth they used heat to heal. They had a sort of heater/light that they would put on my bed, between my legs and under a blanket about 3 times a day! Definitely a cultural experience!

I found your site while searching the internet for reconstruction methods used by Thai doctors to repair the damages done by the passage of babies in the vagina, particularly how many Thai women manage to keep a tight vagina even after 3 or more births.
From what I heard, Thais are quick at doing large and deep incisions to widen the canal and they then sew everything back. Maybe the frequency of cesareans is also related.
I feel this is an important subject, because an enlarged vagina has been mainly responsible for a vanishing sex drive which eventually wrecked my marriage. -
