Birth in Thailand

If you’re reading this, you’re probably thinking of having a baby in Thailand. For some of you, this might be your first birth. For others, this might mean that you’re giving birth in a foreign country. Either way, you’re going to have a lot of questions.

This section is designed to be a starting point for you as you begin to explore your birth options – it’s an introduction to the birthing context in Thailand, the options available to you here, and some questions and information that might be useful as you consider your birth in general.

Just to be up front about this – we’re big believers in natural birth. Some of us are professional doulas or midwives who have attended many births; others of us are mothers who have been lucky enough to have skilled and compassionate people helping us at our own births.

But we’re not here to convince you one way or another. Each birth is unique, as is each mother’s approach, experience and wishes for her birth. There’s a lot of information about natural birth here, but we hope that most of the information is useful for you whatever your approach or desires.

We wish you the birth that you choose and joy in your family.
